Erosion Prevention & Sediment Control (EPSC) Inspection & Reporting Services
In March of 2016, Asa Engineering & Consulting was selected to provide erosion prevention and sediment control (EPSC) inspection services on the $33-million widening of SR-29 (US-27) from south of Whetstone Road to north of SR-328 in Morgan County. The 1.5-mile long project includes the widening of an existing 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane divided roadway with a grass median through an environmentally sensitive area in Morgan County. Significant scope-of-work items include drainage improvements, box bridge extensions, several large-scale retaining walls, and the exposure and removal of large volumes of acid producing shale escarpments that are in close proximity to Bitter Creek throughout the length of the project.
Asa is providing erosion prevention and sediment control inspection services in accordance with established TDOT and TDEC inspection and reporting guidelines on a twice weekly basis for the 30-month duration of the project. Monthly TDEC quality assurance reviews are being conducted to ensure strict conformance with the NEPA construction general permit guidelines.
Asa’s Jeff Sikes, CPESC and William Meagher, CPESC are currently performing the EPSC inspections on the project as a subconsultant to AMEC Foster-Wheeler.
